Statement
The central facet of my work is, on the one hand, a continual investigation of issues related to construction of identity as an unstable, malleable and relational process, and, on the other, a deconstruction of dominant systems of representation with their normative and taxonomic strategies. Representation offers an arbitrary construction of reality influenced by culture and thereby generates distance from the content and the possibility for manipulation. What interests me is how the sense of the self is being informed and changed by social interactions and to what extent various ideological model which we (un)consciously internalise shape our everyday life. I use the medium of photography with inclusion of other media such as text and tone to study the conditions and mechanisms of construction, deconstruction and destruction of ideals and study tensions already present in them. I explore the relationship between desire and reality and investigate various cultural practices which determine our sense of individuality.
